E-SMART is a management tool providing an instant visualisation of the plant and equipment operated in your business.
E-SMART (Equipment - Status Monitoring & Automated Reports Transfer) system, alerts you when the equipment has broken down, shows what the fault is, when it is being repaired, and when it is available for operation again. It is also used to report scheduled maintenance and accidental damage.
In Ports and depots it is typically used to monitor and show the status of container handling equipment. E‑SMART is used by the maintenance team to alert them of equipment faults, allows them to automatically keep the management team informed of the status, and also reports the equipment as operational again once repaired. It is also used by the operations team to see the equipment availability in real time and when equipment is ready for operation again following an outage. E‑SMART provides KPI (Key Performance Indicator) data to allow reviews of performance and ensures that all departments have the same data.
E-SMART can be implemented at low cost and zero risk and is an excellent ROI (return on investment) for ports and depots looking to improve their equipment availability through transparency. It has been developed with the direct input of container terminal operations and engineering staff, and has been installed on several ports on equipment such as Straddle Carriers, Top Picks, Side Loaders, Reach Stackers, RMG cranes, RTG cranes, Ship to shore cranes etc.
E-SMART provides a rapid visualisation of the equipment status. In one glance the maintenance department can easily see the instant equipment requires attention, what the fault is and also the active status of the on-going work. Once complete, Operations can see that the equipment is available for immediate work and if the equipment has been out of service over a shift change can ensure an operator is assigned to utilise the equipment. The maintenance supervisor can instantly see the status of all the equipment in real-time using the colour coded icons. The yard location is also displayed allowing the rapid dispatch of a repair crew. Simply by clicking on the icon the supervisor can see the detailed history and status of the equipment. He can also change the status of the equipment or mark the equipment for planned maintenance.

E-SMART provides remote access for management and key terminal personnel. From their desktops they can view the terminal status in real-time with live information and also access details on equipment history.
Using the statistical analysis tool provided with E-SMART, authorised users can analyse the operational outages in various different ways. The generated reports are easily exported into Microsoft office products to allow management to fashion custom reports.
E-SMART can be implemented as a standalone system or connected to an ERP system. The unplanned maintenance requirements can either be entered by the maintenance supervisor simply with a few clicks of the mouse or can be reported directly from the equipment via the on board RDT terminal. The system can also be linked to a security and equipment operator authorisation system to ensure only trained operators can operate the equipment.
